2 drawer chest – A piece of furniture with drawers or a cabinet is a piece of furniture with usually up to two drawers that are used to store clothes. Many people who have chested of drawers often get them from a relative, such as a parent or a grandparent. Some drawers require renovation of the finish due to age or poor color of the paint. To repaint a piece of furniture with drawers, you must first obtain the right tools for the job.
Check and see what type of separator is needed for your furniture. Use a cotton wool first apply a small amount of denatured alcohol and then varnish thinner, to see which dissolves the finish. If the finish does not dissolve with either, a liquid paint remover is needed. Remove the hardware from the drawer unit. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the handles to each drawer.
Apply the separator to the dresser using a brush or spray bottle. Wait at least 10 to 20 minutes and then scrape the old paint off the wood using a plastic spatula. Use a piece of steel wool to remove old paint from corners or carved details. Sand the surfaces so they are smooth and remove any remaining patches of paint. Use a hand sander with low-grit sandpaper and lightly go through the entire drawer.
